RICHOMND, Va. – Elon women’s basketball’s Nikki McDonald has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office today, March 7.
McDonald notched a new career-high 14 points in 18 minutes played in Elon’s regular-season finale win at William & Mary last week. The rookie finished 8-of-7, another career high, to shoot 86 percent on the night, including a perfect 2-for-2 from beyond the arc to match her third career high of the night. She also hauled down six rebounds in the game to help the Phoenix dominate on the boards, 42-19, and tallied one block.
Next up for the Phoenix is the 2016 CAA Women’s Basketball Championship in Upper Marlboro, Md., at the Show Place Arena. Elon is the No. 4 seed and will take on No. 5 Delaware in the tournament quarterfinals on Thursday, March 10, at 2:30 p.m.
