Baseball (8-8)

Elon at North Carolina, Wednesday, March 16, at 6 p.m., Chapel Hill, N.C.

Elon vs. William & Mary, Friday – Sunday, March 18 – 20, at 4/2/1:30 p.m., Latham Park

• The Phoenix went 3-1 last week, earning a mid-week victory over Liberty and taking two games of a three-game set against The Citadel.

• Freshman pitcher Ryan Conroy figured in to all three wins last week as he earned his first career save in the win over Liberty before picking up two wins, including the first of his career, against The Citadel. Fellow freshman Ryne Ogren came up big in both victories over the weekend, driving in an insurance run in Saturday’s win before hitting a grand slam for the first homer of his career on Sunday.

• Elon will face its second top-25 opponent this week when the Phoenix visits North Carolina. The maroon and gold will then return home to open CAA play against William & Mary on Friday.

Men’s Golf

Seahawk Intercollegiate, Sunday – Monday, March 20 – 21, Wilmington, N.C.

• The Phoenix bested first-place Xavier by 10 shots in the final round to finish second overall, one shot behind the Musketeers, at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate.

• Elon’s second-place finish marked the team’s best finish since taking second at the Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational in 2014.

• Jonathan DiIanni shot a combined 1-over par in the final two rounds to finish alone in fourth place at 216 (+3). The senior’s fourth-place finish marked his third top-10 finish of the season.

Men’s Tennis (8-4)

Elon vs. Navy, Monday, March 14, at 2:30 p.m., Jimmy Powell Tennis Center

Elon vs. Davidson, Tuesday, March 15, at 3 p.m., Jimmy Powell Tennis Center

Elon at James Madison, Friday, March 18, at 2 p.m., Harrisonburg, Va.

• The Phoenix cruised to a 6-1 victory at Winthrop on Friday in its only match last week.

• Doubles duo of Petar Tomic and Chris Humphreys continue to roll as they won their fifth straight doubles match with a 6-4 win at No. 1 at Winthrop.

• True freshmen have been carrying a heavy load for the Phoenix so far this season. Taylor Foote, Salvador Mijares, Felipe Osses-Konig, Mario Paccini, Felipe Sarrasague and Charlie Sullivan have combined for 26 of the team’s 41 singles wins through 12 matches.

Softball (12-11)

Elon vs. Charlotte, Wednesday, March 16, at 5 p.m., Hunt Softball Park

Elon vs. Lafayette (DH), Saturday, March 19, at 1 p.m., Hunt Softball Park

Elon vs. Lafayette, Sunday, March 20, at 1 p.m., Hunt Softball Park

• Elon continues a nine-game homestand with contests this week against Charlotte on Wednesday and Lafayette this weekend.

• Freshman Abby Barker recorded the first perfect game in school history at the Division I level on Friday, March 11, against Niagara. Barker tossed six innings and had three shutouts against the Purple Eagles, while earning the 8-0 win. It’s also the first time that Elon has no-hit an opponent since 2011.

• The Phoenix is coming off a 4-0 weekend at the Elon Softball Tournament. The maroon and gold earned two wins over Niagara, as well as a pair of victories over 2015 NCAA Tournament teams Central Connecticut State and Oakland.

Women’s Basketball (18-12)

Awaiting Post-season Selection

• The Phoenix fell in the CAA Championship quarterfinals last week to fifth-seeded Delaware, 57-50, in Upper Marlboro, Md.

• Shay Burnett led Elon with 13 points and another team-high eight rebounds to go along with three assists. Lenaira Ruffin tallied a season-high 11 points after a 4-of-9 performance from the field and also hauled down six boards.

• The maroon and gold waits to find out its post-season fate when selections are made and bids are handed out tonight, March 14.

Women’s Golf

MSU Spring Citrus Challenge, Sunday – Tuesday, March 20 – 22, Sorrento, Fla.

• The Phoenix earned a top-5 finish, placing fifth at the Kiawah Island Spring Classic, which took place Feb. 28-March 1.

• Heather Munro was named the CAA Women’s Golfer of the Week on March 2, after finishing third place and setting a 54-hole career-best at the Kiawah Island Spring Classic.

• Elon is off to a solid start in the spring, recording two top-five finishes in its first two tournaments. The Phoenix looks to continue the hot start, March 20-22, at the MSU Spring Citrus Challenge

Women’s Lacrosse (5-2)

Elon vs. No. 4 North Carolina, Tuesday, March 15, at 7 p.m., Rudd Field

Elon at Davidson, Saturday, March 19, at 2 p.m., Davidson, N.C.

• Elon snapped a two-game losing skid in impressive fashion with a 14-3 victory over Holy Cross last week. The Phoenix saw six points from Maeve Cowley who netted four goals and had two assists, while Stephanie Asher scored five times in the game.

• The Phoenix hosts No. 4 North Carolina at Rudd Field on Tuesday evening, marking the third straight year the two teams have met. It’s also the second straight season a ranked opponent has played at Elon. The Tar Heels leave the all-time series, 2-0.

• Elon travels to Davidson on Saturday to take on the Wildcats for the third time in three seasons. Davidson won the first meeting in 2014, 15-8, before the Phoenix evened the series with a 10-5 victory in Rhodes Stadium last season.

Women’s Tennis (5-9)

Elon vs. Charlotte, Friday, March 18, at 2 p.m., Jimmy Powell Tennis Center

• The Phoenix had its three-match winning streak snapped on Saturday with a narrow 4-3 loss to Davidson.

• Erica Braschi continues to be on a roll this season and leads the team with eight singles wins and has a 5-3 overall record in doubles play.

• The Phoenix looks to bounce back this week against Charlotte before heading to Charleston next week to face the Cougars of CofC.

Women’s Track and Field

Elon at Shamrock Invitational, Friday – Saturday, March 18 – 19, Myrtle Beach, S.C.

• The Phoenix opens its outdoor season with a two-day meet at the Shamrock Invitational this weekend, March 18-19.

• Elon concluded the indoor track and field season with an 11th-place finish at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Indoor Championships with 21 points. It was a 10-spot improvement from a year ago at the ECAC meet for the Phoenix.

• This season, Elon will host the 2016 Colonial Athletic Association Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 6-7. Last season, the Phoenix captured CAA outdoor title for Elon University’s first conference team championship in its new league.
