UNCG fired their women’s basketball coach today…Wendy Palmer(UVA) was at UNCG for five years and her record speaks for itself…[33-116 overall and 11-75 in Southern Conference play]….Remember those UNC Tar Heel women’s teams with Charlotte Smith, Sylvia Crawley and Marion Jones…Charlotte has a very good job at Elon, Sylvia was an assistant for many years and Marion Jones, if you can catch up with her, you would be lucky, or at least that’s the way it used to be…

The UNCG men’s basketball team will pay $40,000 to play in the College Basketball Invitational Tournament and they will be hosting a home game at the Greensboro Coliseum….I had to pay $50.00 to broadcast last Saturday’s NCHSAA Women 4-A Championship Game and have been forking over the checks for many years, some years upwards of $300.00 for the full rounds of the playoffs…
But $40,000, that is really putting it out there and good thing the school says they have to many to cover this fee and let’s hope it turns out to a good decision for them…
I guess this in one way to get into the post-season….UNCG finished (14-18) on the season, but they did close out the regular season with a strong run…
