Elon Women’s Golf Moves to First on Day Two of MSU Citrus Challenge

SORRENTO, Fla. – Kelsey Badmaev recorded a round-low 70 (-2) on the second day and the Elon University women’s golf team moved into a tie for first with James Madison after two rounds at the MSU Citrus Challenge, hosted by Morehead State University, today, March 21, at the RedTail Golf Club.

The Phoenix find themselves in a tie for first after shooting a 303 second round and are knotted up with James Madison with a 597 (+21) two day score. The final round of the 54-hole tournament begins tomorrow.

Badmaev bettered her first round score of 72, shooting a career 18-hole low of 70 on day two to take sole possession of first place individually at two-under par. Her two round total of 142 is tied for the fourth-best low 36-hole total during Elon’s Division I era.

HIGHLIGHTS
In addition to Munro and Badmaev, Aurelia Hamm entered the top-20 finishing with a four over-par 76 in the second round. She has a 36-hole total of 150 (+6) for the tournament competing as an individual.

Sunna Vidisdottir shot a 79 on Monday and her 154 (+10) total is in a tie for 39th individually. Also for Elon, Marah Penn stands in a tie for 62nd overall after carding a 81 and Emily Brooks turned in an 83 after the two rounds of action.
