HPU’s House leads men¹s track at Raleigh Relays

• James House notched a 100m dash time of 10.51 seconds Friday that puts him in strong contention for an NCAA preliminary berth
• Austin Miller finished third in the pole vault (4.80m, 15-9)
• HPU now returns to the Triad to host the annual VertKlasse Meeting April 1-2 inside Vert Stadium

RALEIGH, N.C. – High Point University sophomore sprinter James House put together his best performance of the 2016 outdoor season to lead the men’s track & field team at the Raleigh Relays this weekend.

House ran his fastest 100m dash time of the year Friday, crossing the finish line in an excellent time of 10.51 seconds. That time was 38th in the NCAA East Region in 2015 and sets up as a potential NCAA Preliminary qualifying time in 2016.

In addition to House’s strong effort, senior Austin Miller posted a third-place finish in the pole vault invitational (4.80m, 15-9) Friday while sophomore Todd Uckermark finished eighth in 4.50m (15-9). In the college section of the pole vault, junior Isaiah Henderson registered an outdoor PR while finishing fourth with a vault of 4.50m (14-9).

In throws action, senior Jim Wilson finished 11th in the discus throw (45.04m, 147-9) while freshman Britton Mann placed 21st with a mark of 35.27m (115-8). Mann returned to Raleigh Saturday and posted a hammer throw mark of 42.01m (137-10).

Senior Will Narramore placed 12th in the long jump Friday with a mark of 6.67m (21-10.75).

In hurdles action, senior Dennis Crawford finished 23rd in the preliminaries of the 110m event with a time of 14.82 seconds.

HPU’s sprint medley relay team of House, senior Andrew Kuras, senior Nick Hula and freshman Patrick Van Der Cruyssen placed seventh in the event with a time of 3:37.15. Kuras also competed in the 100m dash preliminaries and placed 54th in 11.09 seconds.

After this weekend’s events, HPU will return to the Triad to host the annual VertKlasse Meeting April 1-2 inside Vert Stadium.
