Elon Men’s Golf in Sixth After First Round of Competitive Clemson Invitational

SALEM, S.C. – Competing in a strong field at the Clemson Invitational, the Elon University men’s golf team stands in sixth place and has three Phoenix individuals in the top-20 after the first round on Friday, April 1, at the Cliffs at Keowee Falls course.

In a field that consists of three top-50 ranked programs, the Phoenix shot a 294 (+6) after 18 holes of play. No. 11-ranked Clemson tops the leaderboard after shooting a 12 under-par 276.

HIGHLIGHTS
Jonathan DiIanni led the way carding an even-par 72 and is tied for 11th individually. Troy Beaver and Charlie May are right behind him as they each shot rounds of 73 to place them in a tie for 18th on day one.

In addition for the Phoenix, Jake Leavitt carded a four-over 76 and Philip Loeb was a stroke behind with a 77 (+5).

Clemson’s Austin Langdale, ranked No. 60 by GolfStat, leads the tournament individually by two strokes after finishing with a five-under 67 in round one.
