College Track and Field Results – Guilford Competes in Day of High Point University’s VertKlasse Meeting

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Quint Simones posted Guilford College’s best finish of day one in the 3,000 steeplechase as the Quakers competed in first day of the VertKlasse Meeting at High Point University. Members from all three NCAA divisions took part in the meet including schools from the power-five conferences.

Simones placed 13th in the 3,000 meter steeplechase as the last time under ten minutes. He finished with a time of 9:56.29, warding off a Division I runner behind him by .21 seconds.

Trent Evans (Winston-Salem, N.C/R.J. Reynolds) ran the eighth-best non-Division I time in the 1,500 meter Bob Davidson run, placing 27th with a time of 4:07.09. Entry into the top-20 was only 2.02 seconds away from his finishing time in the top-flight race.

Rebecca Reyna (Liberty, N.C./Southern Alamance) led the women with the fourth-fastest 5,000 meter time in school history, finishing with a time of 20:06.14.

The bulk of Guilford’s squad takes to the track tomorrow in day two of the VertKlasse meeting at Vert Stadium at High Point University.
