College Women’s Lacrosse News – Guilford’s Bailey Named ODAC Player of the Week

FOREST, Va. – Guilford College senior Marina Bailey (Rockville, Md./Thomas S. Wootton) earned the Old Dominion Athletic Conference’s Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week Award Monday. She also won the honor February 22 and is the first student honored twice this spring.

Bailey, a 5-6 midfielder, collected 11 goals, six ground balls and four draws in the Quakers’ two ODAC victories last week. She netted a game-high five goals and picked up five ground balls in Guilford’s 18-2 triumph over Randolph College March 30. Bailey’s career- and game-high six goals sparked the Quakers to a 15-12 home victory over Shenandoah University April 2. She scored on 11 of her 17 shots, including 11 of 15 shots on goal.

The 11-goal week moved Bailey into second place on the ODAC’s goal-scoring list with a team-high 33 scores. She also has two assists and ranks sixth in the league with 36 points. Bailey has scored a goal in each Guilford contest and has seven games with two or more tallies. Her club-high 31 ground balls stand third in the conference and her 13 caused turnovers stand sixth.
