GEORGETOWN, S.C. – Senior Tan Cheeranont posted a top-15 finish in her final collegiate tournament to lead the High Point University women’s golf team on day three at the Big South Championship Wednesday.

For the tournament, Cheeranont was t-3rd in par-3 scoring (-1) and made 30 pars in an overall consistent effort for the senior. It marked the second-straight season that Cheeranont placed in the top-15 at the season’s culminating event.

“I want to personally thank Tan for all that she has contributed to our program during her career here at High Point,” head coach Vici Pate Flesher said. “She’s an outstanding ambassador for this team and she truly will be missed next season.”

Junior Danielle Fuss also played well in the difficult weather, posting a final round 80 to move five spots up the leaderboard and finish t-21st. Fuss made a birdie on the par-3 12th hole and made a par on the difficult ninth hole that was playing more than a stroke over par for the day.

Fuss finished t-14th in par-5 scoring (+2) and t-20th in par-4 scoring.

Sophomore Cayla Smith shot 84 in her final round and placed 29th overall with a 54-hole total of 240 (82-74-84). Smith finished the tournament t-16th in par-4 scoring (+11) for the tournament.

“We fought hard through windy conditions today and I thought Tan and Danielle especially handled the weather very well,” Pate Flesher added. “Our team has been through a number of difficult circumstances this spring and I’m proud of how we’ve battled through the adversity all year long. This is a great group of girls.”
