Elon Women’s Golf Finishes Fifth at the 2016 CAA Championships

SOUTHPORT, N.C. – The Elon University women’s golf team finished in fifth place with a score of +80 (309-318-317–944) at the 2016 CAA Women’s Golf Championships at the St. James Plantation Reserve Club.

The Phoenix completed the final round with a 317 (+29) stroke total, which was a stroke better than the team’s second round total. Delaware were crowned CAA champions, winning the tournament by eight strokes with a +63 (323-298-306–927) score. Andrea Slane of the Blue Hens earned the individual title with a two over-par 218 for the tournament.

HIGHLIGHTS
Emily Brooks led the way for the Phoenix carding a team-low round of 78 (+6) on the final day and earned a top-10 finish, placing tied for sixth individually with a +17 (233) total. Brooks’ set her conference tournament personal bests in finish (T-6th) and score to par (+17).

Aurelia Hamm turned in the second-best final round total for Elon with a seven over-par 79. Both Hamm and Heather Munro carded a +23 (239) for the tournament, good enough to tie for 13th individually.

Kelsey Badmaev finished tied for 11th individually turning in a score of +21 (237) for the tournament. She carded an 80 (+8) in the final round. Sunna Vidisdottir also scored an 80 (+8) in the final round and finished 25th as an individual.
