Baseball (15-21, 7-7)

Elon at High Point, Tuesday, April 19, at 6 p.m., High Point, N.C.

Elon vs. UNCG, Wednesday, April 20, at 6:30 p.m., Latham Park

Elon vs. Hofstra, Friday – Sunday, April 22 – 24, at 6:30/4/12 p.m., Latham Park

• Elon earned its first CAA sweep of the season by taking all three games from the Towson Tigers over the weekend. The Phoenix won the first two games by one-run margins, marking the first time since May of 2013 that the maroon and gold won back-to-back one-run contests.

• Closer Chris Hall picked up two saves over the weekend, giving him eight for the year. He has moved in to a tie for 10th place on the program’s single-season saves chart.

• The Phoenix will play four of its five games at Latham Park this week. Elon will begin the week with a trip to High Point, the program’s most faced opponent. The maroon and gold will then host UNCG on Wednesday, before playing its final home CAA series of the year against Hofstra this weekend.

Football

Elon Football Spring Game, Saturday, April 23, at 6 p.m.

• The Elon football team will host its annual Spring Game at 6 p.m. on Saturday evening in Rhodes Stadium.

• Prior to the game fans can enjoy live music, food trucks, games and more from 3-7pm on Bank of America Drive. The event is free.

Men’s Golf

CAA Women’s Golf Championships, Friday – Sunday, April 22 – 24, Southport, N.C.

• Elon improved three spots in the final round of the Wolfpack Spring Intercollegiate on Sunday, at Lonnie Poole Golf Course, closing with a team score of 291 to finish eighth with a three-round total of 881 (+29).

• Jonathan DiIanni had the low round of the tournament for the Phoenix, a 2-under-par 69 that gained him 22 places on the leaderboard. The senior finished tied for 15th with a three-round total of 217 (+4).

• Also finishing in the top 20 was Troy Beaver, who shot a 76 in the final round to finish tied for 19th at 219 (+6).

Men’s Tennis (16-5)

CAA Championships, Friday – Sunday, April 22 – 24, Jimmy Powell Tennis Center/Burlington Tennis Center

• The Phoenix capped off the regular season with a 6-1 victory over East Carolina on Saturday. Felipe Sarrasague has a team-best 14-5 record in singles play and is currently on a 10 match-winning streak. Lindgren (13-5), Salvador Mijares (13-4) and Mario Paccini (12-8) have also recorded double-digit winning marks in singles this season.

• Elon has now won 16 or more matches in a season in three of its last four years.

• The Phoenix hosts the 2016 CAA Men’s Tennis Championship later this week with matches taking place at the Burlington Tennis Center on Friday and at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center on Saturday and Sunday.

Softball (23-19, 7-5)

Elon at North Carolina A&T, Wednesday, April 20, at 4 p.m., Greensboro, N.C.

Elon at UNCW, Saturday – Sunday, April 23 – 24, at 3/5/1 p.m., Wilmington, N.C.

• The Phoenix continues its seven-game road trip this week with a trip to North Carolina A&T and a weekend series at UNCW. It’s the third contest of the season between Elon and the Aggies.

• Elon currently sits in third in the CAA standings after 12 games plated after its series at Towson. The Phoenix is a game back behind Delaware for second in the league standings with series remaining at UNCW, against No. 6 James Madison and at Delaware on its league schedule.

• Senior Kayla Caruso converted her fifth career save on Saturday, April 16, in Elon’s 3-2 win at Towson. That save moves her into a tie for second all-time in school history and just one back from Caitlin O’Shea’s (2012-15) school-mark of six that was set last season.

Women’s Golf

Season complete

• Elon women’s golf team finished in fifth place with a score of +80 (309-318-317–944) at the 2016 CAA Women’s Golf Championships at the St. James Plantation Reserve Club.

• Emily Brooks led the way for the Phoenix carding a team-low round of 78 (+6) on the final day and earned a top-10 finish, placing tied for sixth individually with a +17 (233) total. Brooks’ set her conference tournament personal bests in finish (T-6th) and score to par (+17).

• Elon earned top-5 finishes in nine of its 10 tournaments this season, including seven tournaments with a top-three finish.

Women’s Lacrosse (8-4, 1-2)

Elon at Drexel, Friday, April 22, at 7 p.m., Philadelphia

Elon at Hofstra, Sunday, April 24, at noon, Hempstead, N.Y.

• Elon was edged out in its home finale on Friday, 9-7, by preseason CAA favorite James Madison as two late goals powered the Dukes past the Phoenix.

• Shelby Scanlin led the maroon and gold with three goals off three shots, including a perfect 2-for-2 in free-position shots, and also tallied three draw controls against JMU.

• The Phoenix plays its first conference road games of the season this weekend when the team travels to Drexel and Hofstra on Friday and Sunday, respectively.

Women’s Tennis (13-9)

CAA Championships, Thursday – Sunday, April 21 – 24, Jimmy Powell Tennis Center/Burlington Tennis Center

• The Phoenix topped USC Upstate 6-1 on Thursday to end the regular season. Elon is currently on an eight-match winning streak heading into the conference tournament.

• Olivia Lucas and Erica Braschi continued their strong play, picking up singles wins to lead Elon to victory over USC Upstate. Braschi won her 11th straight singles match and Lucas picked up her seventh straight singles victory. Suzanne Zenoni has also has a solid season for the Phoenix as she is 12-8 overall in singles play and is on a three-match winning streak.

• The Phoenix hosts the 2016 CAA Women’s Tennis Championship later this week with matches taking place at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center Thursday – Sunday.

Women’s Track and Field

Phoenix Invitational, Saturday, April 23, Jeanne and Jerry Robertson Track and Field Complex

• Elon hosts its home meet, the Phoenix Invitational, for the second straight year this Saturday at the Jeanne and Jerry Robertson Track and Field Complex.

• The Phoenix is coming off a team title at the Campbell Invitational this past weekend, April 15 – 16. Elon edged out other notable programs such as Wake Forest and host Campbell at the meet with 127 points and had seven event titles.

• Elyse Bierut set a new school-record in the outdoor 3,000-meter run as the Rocky River, Ohio, native ran a 9:54.75 in the race to capture individualist honors. Teammate Shelby Cuddeback was the runner-up in the race and set a new personal-record time of 10:02.28. That time is now second on the program’s all-time performance list behind Bierut.
