FOREST, Va. – Guilford College’s Tommy Schick earned the Old Dominion Athletic Conference’s (ODAC) Men’s Golfer of the Week Award Monday. The Quakers’ rookie received the prize for the first time in his career and is the third Guilford student so honored this in the 2015-16 season.

Schick shot 73-67-140 to finish second among 80 golfers at the Emory Spring Invitational April 11-12 at the Smoke Rise Country Club in Stone Mountain, Georgia. After an opening-round 73, he rebounded with a three-under-par 67 and climbed into second place, seven strokes off the white-hot pace of medalist Addison Lambeth (67-66-133) of tourney champ Huntingdon College. Schick’s career-low 67 matches the Quakers’ low round of the season. His play helped Guilford finish eighth among 13 teams, 12 of which were ranked among the top-26 squads in the Golfstat.com Division III Head-to-Head Ratings.

After playing just one fall event, Schick has been in coach Justin Tereshko’s lineup in all four spring events. He has two top-13 finishes in four tournaments this year and averages 76.5 strokes per round in 10 rounds.

The Quakers, ranked 18th in the Golfstat rankings, are back in action April 25-28 at the ODAC Championships at the Wintergreen Resort in Wintergreen, Virginia. Guilford is the five-time defending tournament champion.
