HPU Athletics performs well in annual APR Repor

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University Athletics Department continued its excellent annual performance in the latest Academic Progress Rate (APR), as released by the NCAA Wednesday.

In the NCAA’s annual report, the HPU men’s basketball, women’s cross country, men’s golf, women’s indoor and outdoor track & field and volleyball programs all posted a perfect APR score for 2014-15.

In addition, the women’s cross country and women’s indoor and outdoor track & field programs hit multi-year scores of 1000 and received NCAA Public Recognition Awards for their efforts.

The women’s cross country, women’s lacrosse and women’s indoor and outdoor track & field teams each have the highest APR scores in the Big South Conference for their respective sports. None of HPU’s 16 teams face any penalty for low or substandard APR scores.

In all, 14 of the Panthers’ 16 sports posted multi-year APR rates of 970 or above. In addition, the baseball, men’s basketball, women’s cross country, women’s lacrosse and women’s indoor and outdoor track & field teams set or matched the highest multi-year APR marks in program history.

The APR is a real-time measure of eligibility, retention and graduation of student-athletes competing on every NCAA Division I athletics team. The most recent scores are based on a multi-year rate that averages scores from the 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15 academic years.
