Elon Remains in Fifth at the CAA Men’s Golf Championships

SOUTHPORT, N.C. – The Elon University men’s golf team remains in fifth place after two round of the 2016 CAA Men’s Golf Championships. The Phoenix carded a 294 (+6) second-day total today, April 23, at the St. James Plantation Founders Club and is five strokes out of the top-three in the team standings.

College of Charleston remains the leaders after two rounds and lead by 16 strokes with a 578 (+2) total. The Cougars’ William Rainey leads individually by two strokes with a four-under par 140 total.

HIGHLIGHTS
Senior Jonathan DiIanni surged up the leaderboard and led the Phoenix with a team-low 68 (-4) in the second round to move to three-over par (147) for the tournament. He moves into the top-10 and is tied for ninth individually.

Charlie May and Jared Mactas still stand in the top-20. May carded a one over-par 73 and is at five over par for the tournament, good enough for a tie for 13th individually through two rounds. Mactas is at eight over (152) for the tournament and is tied for 18th individually.

In addition for the Phoenix, Philip Loeb carded a 78 (+6) for the day and is tied for 22nd individually with a nine over-par 153 two-round total. Troy Beaver is tied for 37th individually and is at 16-over par for the tournament.

UP NEXT
The CAA Championships concludes tomorrow with the final round at the Founders Club at St. James Plantation. The round will tee off tomorrow morning at 8 a.m.
