College Track and Field Results – Guilford’s Evans Hits Top-five in 800 Meter at Mountaineer Outdoor Open

BOONE, N.C. – Guilford College’s Trent Evans (Winston-Salem, N.C./R.J. Reynolds) claimed a top-five finish in the 800 meter run as select Quakers competed in Appalachian State University’s Mountaineer Outdoor Open. The meet consisted of school from all NCAA divisions.

Evans placed fourth in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:54.41. The time is good for third all-time in school history, which is his second top-eight all-time finish. Evans was .38 seconds away from third place, which would have earned him victory in his individual section of the race.

Rebecca Reyna (Liberty, N.C./Southern Alamance) also claimed a top-five finish for the women, placing fifth in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 20:08.71. The time stands fifth in school history and is the second time she has cracked Guilford’s top-eight times this season.

Tess Stryk claimed 13th in the 800 meter run, but running the second-fastest time in school history with a time of 2:29.64. The time was five seconds off her own school record, set last week at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships.

Nick Reynolds claimed fifth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, running against Division I and II opponents and posting a time of 10:35.33.

Josephus Mitchell (Winston-Salem, N.C./R.J. Reynolds) placed 15th in a relatively tight 100 meter dash, finished with a time of 11.19 seconds. Mitchell was in a pack of runners from 12th to 15th place that finished within .08 seconds of each other.
