Lomas, Thistle and Price lead HPU MLAX on All-SoCon team

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Seniors Dan Lomas, Matt Thistle and Zack Price of the High Point University men’s lacrosse team earned All-Southern Conference First Team honors, the league announced on Tuesday.

Along with the trio of seniors, juniors Michael LeClair and Dallas Bridle garnered second team recognition while Tim Troutner Jr. represented HPU on the All-Freshman squad.

Dan Lomas – First Team
The Burlington, Ontario native earned first team honors for the third straight season after leading the conference with 36 goals. The attackman has scored a goal in all 14 contests with his biggest outing coming against Jacksonville (5g, 1a).

Lomas is third among active players nationally with 157 career goals. He is a two-time USILA All-American and was named to the Tewaaraton Watch List prior to the 2015 and 2016 seasons. The senior was the SoCon’s preseason offensive player of the year after winning the postseason award the previous two campaigns.

Matt Thistle – First Team
Thistle joins Lomas in the first team attack after tying LeClair for the conference’s lead in points per game (3.71/game). Thistle was a first team selection in 2014 and a second team honoree last year. The Chelmsford, Mass. product finished the season second in the league in goals (30) and fourth in assists (22).

The senior has racked up 210 career points – the third most among active players nationally – with 199 coming in the Purple & White. He’s the only current Division I athlete to record 100 goals and 100 assists in his career.

Zack Price – First Team
This is Price’s first selection to the All-SoCon team. The senior paces HPU in caused turnovers (17) and is fifth on the team with 26 ground balls.

The Cumming, Ga. native racked up six ground balls and four caused turnovers against Jacksonville en route to being named SoCon Defensive Player of the Week. He is just two caused turnovers from tying Pat Farrell’s HPU’s career record.

Michael LeClair – Second Team
LeClair led the SoCon in scoring for the second consecutive season registering 52 points (3.71/game) while scoring in every contest. Likewise, it is LeClair’s second consecutive All-SoCon second team selection.

The Elkridge, Md. product currently holds the nation’s seventh-longest scoring streak of 40 games after dishing out 25 assists and scoring 27 goals. He also is one point away from tying HPU’s single-season scoring record, which he shares with Thistle.

Dallas Bridle – Second Team
After transferring from Denver this winter Bridle has stepped right into the HPU lineup and produced from day one. The junior is fourth on the team in points (24) and his 19 goals are the most in a season by a midfielder in HPU history.

The Orangeville, Ontario native has scored in 12 of the squad’s 14 contests including eight multi-point outings. Bridle has been extremely efficient putting 80 percent of his attempts on goal while scoring on 53 percent of his shots.

Tim Troutner Jr. – Freshman Team
Troutner is the lone Panther on the all-freshman squad after posting an 8-3 record. He is second in the SoCon and fourth nationally with 12.36 saves per game while leading the conference with a .574 save percentage.

His eight wins are one shy of equaling Austin Geisler’s HPU single-season record of nine wins. The Annapolis, Md. product finished the season on a hot streak making 78 saves while allowing just 41 goals over the final six games (.656).
