PINEHURST, N.C. – Wilkes Central was consistent from day one to day two, as they shot 310 both days, winning the 2A Men’s Golf State Championship by 30 strokes over their nearest competitor, South Stokes, on Foxfire Resort’s Grey Fox Course.
Chandler Metz fired a 3-over 75 and teammates Quinton Metz and Zach Caudill carded 4-over 76’s on day two to help Wilkes Central cruise to the school’s first ever Men’s Golf State Championship following a second place finish in the event a season ago.
The individual title needed an extra hole to be decided as Justin Emmons from Providence Grove used a bogey-free 4-under par 68 on day two to force the playoff with day one leader Logan McNeely from Newton-Conover who recorded a 3-over 75 on day two. Emmons took the playoff on the first hole, knocking in a par and winning the 2A Individual Title.
