Evan Rogers(East Forsyth HS/Mars Hill University) named South Atlantic Conference Baseball Player of the Year

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Mars Hill senior shortstop Evan Rogers(East Forsyth HS) has been named the 2016 South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year while teammates Ray Carolina and Dylan Powers find themselves on the all-conference list as announced by the league office. Rogers, along with Carolina earned First-Team All-Conference honors and Powers was named an honorable mention following impressive seasons.

Rogers, a senior from Kernersville, N.C., put together one of the most prolific offensive seasons in Lions history. His 19 home runs on the season set a new Mars Hill record while also ranking first in the conference. Evan was also able to lead the team and conference in runs (66) and slugging percentage (.855). A .390 batting average was tops among the Blue and Gold as well as a career-high 55 runs batted in. Rogers’ most impressive game came in a 10-8 win over Wingate on February 28, belting three dingers and tallying six RBIs.
