This first round playoff game had the #6 Southeast Falcons versus the #27 South Mecklenburg Sabres. After rallies from both teams, Southeast Guilford came out on top with a score of 6-3. The Falcons were led by strong offensive showings from Forrest Brothers, 2-3, double, triple, 4RBIs, and Jarrett Alexander, 1-2, HR, 2RBIs.

The top of the first saw South Mecklenburg take an early 2-0 lead. After a single from NC State commit Lawson McArthur, Colby Bruce drove him in by the likes of an RBI triple to right center. Bruce was then plated by Carter Hipps with a drive to right field.

Southeast Guilford quickly rallied from the deficit from the bat of Jarrett Alexander. In the bottom of the first, after a Devin Bartley walk, Alexander belted a two run shot over the left center fence.

Jalen Guy got the win for the Falcons pitching 5 great innings. He gave up 3R, 2ER, 8H and struck out 5 South Mecklenburg batters.

After a quick second inning, Southeast was up to bat again in the third. Noah Marley got the rally going with a one out double down the third base line after a walk issued to Alexander. Forrest Brothers then cranked a 2 RBI triple into the right center gap, igniting the Southeast Guilford crowd.

The Falcons didn’t look back after they got their lead. Brothers seemed to have Liberty commit and opposing pitcher, Colby Bruce’s number. With runners on second and third in the bottom of the fifth, Brothers banged a double to the left field fence plating two more Falcon runs.

The Sabres struggled to get anything going after the first inning only scoring once more in the top of the fourth. South Mecklenburg left 7 runners stranded failing to score multiple times with runners in scoring position.

Freshman pitcher Ryan Douglas came on to get the six out save. Tossing two innings of no hit ball as well as striking out two.
