College Women’s Lacrosse News – Guilford Places Four on All-ODAC Teams

FOREST, Va. – Guilford College’s Marina Bailey (Rockville, Md./Thomas S. Wootton), Sammi Milbourn (Lake Zurich, Ill./Lake Zurich), Amanda Dionne (Nashua, N.H./Tabor Academy) and Demming Carlow (West Chester, Pa./Unionville) each garnered All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) lacrosse honors Wednesday. The awards are presented according to voting by the league’s head women’s lacrosse coaches based on performance in ODAC contests. Bailey and Milbourn received second-team commendations and Dionne and Carlow were third-team selections.

Bailey, a senior midfielder, topped the team in goals (57), points (60) and ground balls (48). Her 3.35 goals per game ranked third in the conference and her 24 ground balls stood seventh. A two-time ODAC Player of the Week, Bailey ranked third on the team in both draw controls (30) and caused turnovers (20). One of her best games this season was against Hollins University when she scored a career-high seven goals. She also totaled four ground balls and two draw controls. Bailey, who appeared in 69 career games, is ranked ninth in school history in both goals (127) and caused turnovers (59).

Milbourn, a junior goalie, totaled over 861 minutes in goal this season and started 16 of the Quakers’ 17 games. She ranked third on the team with 35 ground balls. Her 14.07 goals against average and .425 saves percentage both ranked 10th in the ODAC. Milbourn stands 38th among NCAA Division III leaders through games of May 11 with 149 saves. She had seven games with 10 or more stops, including a career-high 20 saves versus Lynchburg College.

Dionne, a freshman attacker, enjoyed a breakout campaign with 57 points on 46 goals and 11 assists. She stood second in goals and points to Bailey, but topped the team with 47 draw controls. Dionne also totaled 18 ground balls and six caused turnovers. She ranked eighth in the ODAC with 2.71 goals per game and ninth with 33 points in conference action. One of Dionne’s best games this season was against Virginia Wesleyan College when she had a career-high six goals and three ground balls.

Carlow, a junior midfielder, was one of the Quakers’ top attackers, totaling 50 points off of 39 goals and 11 assists. She placed sixth in the conference with 36 points in nine league games. Her 22 draw controls ranked fourth on the team. She also totaled 14 caused turnovers and 30 ground balls. Carlow’s best game was against Hollins University when she scored a season-high nine points and six draw controls. Carlow also earned Third Team All-ODAC in 2015.

Bailey, Milbourn, Dionne and Carlow helped coach Sarah Lamphier’s Quakers to a 7-10 record (5-4 ODAC). Lamphier could return as many as 16 letter winners next spring, including Milbourn, Dionne and Carlow.
