Elon’s Badmaev, Munro, Brooks Earn All-CAA Women’s Golf Honors

RICHMOND, Va. – Three Elon University women’s golfers earned postseason honors from the Colonial Athletic Association today, May 11, as announced by the league office. Kelsey Badmaev and Heather Munro were named to the All-CAA First Team. Emily Brooks was selected to the league’s all-academic team.

Badmaev had an outstanding junior campaign as she posted a 74.28 stroke average over 29 rounds, which ranked third in the CAA. She also claimed two individual titles during the season at the MSU Citrus Challenge and the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate. In the CAA Championship, Badmaev just missed a top-10 finish, placing tied for 11th. The Blythwood, S.C. native, garnered two CAA Golfer of the Week honors this season and was also named team MVP at the Elon Athletics Awards Banquet.

Munro, who earned CAA Golfer of the Week honors on March 2, finished the season with a 74.97 stroke average in 29 rounds of action. Her total stroke average ranked fourth in the CAA this season. The Dundee, Scotland, native had four top-10 finishes individually, including two top-three finishes at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate and the MSU Spring Citrus Challenge. Munro earned a top-15 finish at the CAA Championships, placing in a tie for 13th individually.

Brooks averaged a 76.24 stroke average over her 29 rounds during her senior year. A native of Chapel Hill, N.C., Brooks set Division I program individual records for lowest 54-hole score, low 36-hole score, and finished second individually at the Pinehurst Challenge. It was her career-best finish and it helped Elon set four team records at the tournament. At the CAA Championships, her tie for sixth individually was her highest conference tournament individual finish of her career. Brooks earned her spot on the CAA All-Academic Team thanks to a 3.76 GPA as a media arts and entertainment major with a minor in business.

The Phoenix as a team earned top-five finishes in nine of its 10 tournaments this season, including seven top-three finishes and two team titles at the MSU Citrus Challenge and the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate.
