Kernersville Bulldogs split games with Charlotte Crushers on Sunday with locals Shumate(Grimsley), Orth(SWG) and Stanley(SEG) stepping up this weekend

Kernersville split Carolina Virginia League games in Charlotte Sunday against Charlotte Crushers.

In game one Kory Shumate 2 rbi single sent the game into extra innings with a 4-4 tie but a walk off double spelled a 5-4 loss. Jacob Nester and Harrison Hollis each had two hits to pace Kernersville. In Game two GTCC’s Matt Orth and NC A&T signee Marcello Betances combined on a four hitter in a 6-2 Bulldog win. NC A&T’s Dawnoven Smith paced the offense for Kernersville with 2 RBI’s. Montae Bradshaw had single and two runs scored also for Kernersville.

On Sat Night Kernersville also split a league Doubleheader with the Catawba Valley Stars at Lenoir Rhyne University.Dawnoven Smith paced the 10-2 win in game two with a homer and 3 runs scored Kory Shumate with 2-3, Jacob Nester 3-4 and Ryne Stanley had key RBI’s. In Game one a late inning double scored two runs for Catawba and a 4-2 win. Zack Michalski and CJ Needham had rbi doubles to pace the Bulldog offense. they Play an exhibition game Monday night against the Greensboro Yankees at 7PM.
