High Point/Thomasville, N.C. – The High Point-Thomasville HiToms (7-5) put up seven runs after five innings and cruised to a 7-3 win over the Holly Springs Salamanders (4-9) 7-3 on Wednesday night.

Brad Jarreau went deep last night and couldn’t wait for his second homer of the year with a solo shot to right center to put the HiToms ahead 1-0 after the first inning.

Brand new HiTom, Derek Scheible punched an RBI single up the middle as HPT led 2-0 after four innings of play.

The Salamanders cut the lead in half in the top of fifth on a solo blast off of the bat of Matthew Schmidt but the HiToms wouldn’t let the homer phase them.

The lineup backed up starting pitcher Robert Donnelly (3-0) first with an RBI groundout by Teddy Hoffman. Up next was Zac Almond to drilled a 2-run single to right putting the HiToms up 5-1 but the scoring threat did not end there. David Fry lifted a 2-run homer for his second of the season as HPT has hit six homers in the past three games. The HiToms carried a 7-1 lead into the sixth inning.

Drew Butler led off the Holly Springs half of the sixth inning with a solo home run that Carson Jackson almost brought back in left field. An RBI double by Ben Calvano plated the third run of the game for the Salamanders.

Kael Jones, Andrew Dill and Logan Welch all put in work out of the bullpen after Donnelly went 5 2/3 innings surrendering 5 hits and striking out five batters. Welch helped finish the game with five strikeouts of his own.

Joe Williams (1-1) threw four innings in a losing effort giving up five earned runs on the mound for Holly Springs.

The HiToms make a short road trip on Thursday, June 16 to Asheboro with a first pitch against the Copperheads set for 7:05 p.m.
