Stanly County Post 76 led by three runs in the seventh inning, but High Point put together a furious comeback to steal the victory, 7-6, on Wednesday at Don Montgomery (Albemarle, NC).

Hunter Williams racked up three RBIs on three hits for Stanly County Post 76. He singled in the fifth, seventh, and ninth innings.
Matthew Lambert worked out of five difficult moments for Stanly County Post 76. He pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run on five hits.

Lambert faced his most difficult moment in the seventh inning.

Zack Britton got the win for High Point. He allowed two runs over six innings. He struck out three, walked three and surrendered four hits.

Rockingham County falls 7-3 to Southwest

Jacob Williamson went 2-2, but Rockingham County still fell to Southwest 7-3 in six innings on Tuesday. Southwest had no answer for Garrett Hladlilek, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Hladlilek held Southwest hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out none. Tommy Zente got the win for Southwest. He allowed two runs over three innings. Zente struck out five, walked four and gave up one hit. Brandon Leonard was the game’s losing pitcher. He lasted just two innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed five runs. In the top of the first, Southwest grabbed the early lead, 1-0. The Southwest attack began with a single from Zente. A stolen base then moved Zente from first to second. Eli Mills singled, bringing home Zente. After a quick strike from Southwest, Rockingham County responded with two runs in the first. Rockingham County scored on a steal of home by Williamson and an error. Rockingham County answered Southwest’s top inning with one run of its own in the second. Rockingham County scored on an RBI single by Hladlilek. Southwest didn’t relinquish the lead after scoring four runs in the third inning when it scored on two errors, a groundout by Peyton Walls, and an RBI single by Adam Needles.

Northern Guilford takes early lead on double, holds on for 8-3 win over High Point Central

Four first-inning runs helped Northern Guilford to an 8-3 win over High Point Central at Stoner White on Tuesday. Northern Guilford scored in the first on a two-run double by Drew Duvall, an RBI single by Michael Kastanek, and a passed ball. It was a good day at the plate for Northern Guilford’s Duvall. Duvall went 2-2, drove in one and scored two runs. Kastanek struck out seven hitters en route to the Northern Guilford win. Kastanek allowed three earned runs, four hits and no walks over 5 2/3 innings. Ryan Winther couldn’t get it done on the mound for High Point Central, taking a loss. He lasted just one inning, walked two, struck out one, and allowed four runs. Northern Guilford closer Scott Bennett put away the final four outs to record the save. High Point Central scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to cut its deficit to five. An RBI single by Zach Hannah, an RBI double by Myles Alexander, and an RBI triple by Grayson Lackey set off High Point Central rally. But, Bennett got Max Douglas to fly out to end the inning.

Despite hit advantage, Western Alamance drops 8-4 game to Williams

Western Alamance lost 8-4 in six innings on Tuesday, despite outhitting williams 10 to nine. Jackson Hornaday racked up two RBIs on two hits for western Alamance. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the sixth inning. Williams didn’t relinquish the lead after scoring three runs in the first inning when it scored on two errors. Western Alamance got one-run rallies in the first inning and the fourth. In the first, western Alamance scored, scoring Breydan Oakley. Williams built upon its lead with three runs in the third. Will Davis’s single got things going, plating Bailey Sartin. Williams increased its lead with two runs in the fourth. A clutch wild pitch scored Sartin to open the scoring in the frame. One run in the bottom of the fourth helped western Alamance close its deficit to 8-2. An RBI double by Hornaday gave western Alamance life. The western Alamance threat came to an end when Sartin finally got Chris Carlone to ground out. Two runs in the bottom of the sixth helped western Alamance close its deficit to 8-4. An RBI triple by Ryan Waltman and an RBI single by Hornaday set off western Alamance rally. Kevin Scott got the last out, as western Alamance’s Carlone struck out.

Northeast Guilford falls 10-0 to Ragsdale despite Sean Maurelli’s effort

Northeast Guilford collected four hits, but Northeast Guilford fell 10-0 to Ragsdale on Tuesday.

The game was never in doubt after the second, as Ragsdale scored five runs on three singles.
