NWHS Tennis Coach Retiring, new coach named
Longtime tennis coach Randy Alexander has announced his retirement from teaching and coaching at Northwest Guilford High School.

Coach Alexander was the head boys and girls tennis coach at Northwest High for the past eleven school years, achieving seven girls conference championships and six boys conference championships while at NWHS. Previous to his stint at Northwest Guilford, Coach Alexander was the head tennis coach at Page, Grimsley, and Andrews High Schools in Guilford County during his thirty year high school teaching and coaching career with the Guilford County Schools. His career records for high school tennis are an impressive 267-82 in girls tennis and 328-95 in boys tennis for a combined record of 595-177.

Replacing Coach Alexander for both tennis teams will be Barry Friedman. He is a graduate of St. Mary’s College in Maryland and participated on the tennis team in high school at Paint Branch High in Silver Spring, Maryland. He will be teaching Physical Education at Northwest High.
