ELON, N.C. – Elon University Athletics today announced game times for 10 of its 11 contests on the 2016 schedule. The Phoenix will make two appearances on CAA Football’s television package in games at William & Mary and Albany.
The Phoenix will open its 2016 season with a 3:30 p.m. kick against Gardner-Webb at Rhodes Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 3. The following Saturday, Sept. 10, the maroon and gold will head to Charlotte for a 6 p.m. game against the 49ers of Conference USA.
Elon will return to Rhodes Stadium for a 6 p.m. bout on Saturday, Sept. 17, against the Fayetteville State Broncos. The newest members of the Elon Sports Hall of Fame will be recognized at halftime.
On Sept. 24, Elon will open CAA Football play at William & Mary in a 7 p.m. game that will air on Comcast SportsNet (CSN).
Three consecutive home October games come next for the Phoenix. Beginning with a Family Weekend tussle with Villanova on Oct. 1, all three games will kick at 3:30 p.m. Also visiting Rhodes Stadium in that span will be New Hampshire (Oct. 8) and Richmond. The Oct. 22 date with the Spiders will be Homecoming at Elon.
Elon’s second televised game, this one on the American Sports Network (ASN), will come on Oct. 29 at Albany. Kickoff is slated for noon in the state capital of New York.
Following a 2 p.m. contest at Towson on Nov. 5, Elon will finish the home portion of its schedule with a 1:30 p.m. tilt against Rhode Island.
The time for the Nov. 19 game at James Madison is yet to be determined. Both CSN and ASN will televise a compelling “Wild Card” game that Saturday. Those games will be selected approximately two weeks prior. A game time will be announced at that point for the Phoenix’s contest against the Dukes in Harrisonburg, Va.
