GREENSBORO, N.C. – Teresa Fister has been named the eighth head softball coach in Greensboro College history, Director of Athletics Bryan Galuski announced Wednesday.

“Teresa has a great deal of passion and energy for college softball. Throughout a very thorough search and excellent candidate pool, Teresa continued to emerge as our top candidate,” Galuski said. “It is with certainty she will bring a tireless work ethic to the program and will be an excellent leader and mentor for our student-athletes.

“On behalf of our athletic department I would like to welcome her to our Greensboro College family.”

Fister, a 2010 graduate of Appalachian State University, comes to the Pride after serving as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro during the 2016 season.

“I am very excited to be named the next head softball coach at Greensboro College. This is an amazing opportunity that I am very eager to take on,” Fister said. “Greensboro College has a strong sense of community and family that is unique to the institution, and I know that this is going to be a great place to work and grow.

“The softball program also has a strong history and I look forward to leading it towards greater success. I have high expectations for this season on and off the field, and I am eager to work with the wonderful young ladies that are members of the Pride softball family. I would like to thank Director of Athletics Bryan Galuski, Assistant Director of Athletics Randy Tuggle, President Czarda, and the entire Greensboro College administration for affording me this opportunity.”

Prior to joining the Spartans staff, Fister coached Northwest Guilford High School where she began her coaching career as an assistant coach in 2011, before taking over the helm one season later. Over the course of the next four seasons, Fister led the Vikings to four consecutive Piedmont Triad- 4A titles, while also earning Coach of the Year honors in 2012 and 2014.

In her final season with the Vikings, Fister coached eight Piedmont Triad 4A All-Conference selections, including the Pitcher and Player of the Year.

As a student-athlete at ASU, Fister earned the Rick Edmunson Award and was on both the Student-Athlete and Southern Conference Honor Roll. Upon her graduation, Fister ranked atop the Mountaineers all-time saves board (4), while ranking sixth in career strikeouts (107).
