Five HiToms selected to CPL All-Star Game

High Point/Thomasville, N.C. – As announced earlier this afternoon, the High Point-Thomasville HiToms are sending five players to the 2016 Coastal Plain League All-Star game in Fayetteville, N.C.

The HiTom players selected by coaches and media are as follows: Zac Almond, Steven Bower, Carson Jackson, Brad Jarreau and Taylor Sugg.

Daniel Sullivan is a part of the fan vote to determine the last spot on the West division roster with an online poll that started a 3 p.m. today and will run for 24 hours.

Zac Almond from Catawba College will start behind the plate at catcher for the West after hitting .302 with five home runs and 28 RBI’s. Also in a starting role for the HiToms is Carson Jackson from High Point University after leading the CPL in batting average at .425 adding two homers and 13 RBI’s.

Coming off of the bench in the 2016 All-Star contest will be Brad Jarreau of Middle Tennessee State who batted .309 with four homers and 12 RBI’s in the first half.

Two pitchers will join the West All-Star staff led by the 2.31 ERA of Steven Bower from North Georgia carrying a 2-1 record into the break. UNC internet sensation Taylor Sugg also gets the nod after a 3-0 record, 2.82 ERA and 20 strikeout season.

The 2016 CPL All-Star game takes place on Monday, July 11 at J.P. Riddle Stadium.
