Game halted in middle of fourth

High Point/Thomasville, N.C. – Due to a large storm cell that moved into the Thomasville area heading into the bottom of the fourth on Friday night, the HiToms game versus Martinsville has been stopped and will be resumed from the point of stoppage later in the season.

The makeup date is set for August 7 at Finch Field when the HiToms were already scheduled to play the Mustangs. At 3 p.m. the game tonight will be resumed in the bottom of the fourth inning with the HiToms trailing 2-1 and Zac Almond at bat. Once the delayed game is complete, then the HiToms and Mustangs will play a seven inning game to conclude the doubleheader.

The HiToms scored first in the bottom of the third on a groundout by Drew Frederic and then the Mustangs answered with a two-run homer by Collin Fleischer in the top of the fourth off of HiToms starting pitcher Brandon Lewis.

In the middle of the fourth inning right after the top of the fourth is when lightning was spotted and the game entered a delay that it would not come out of.

The HiToms return to Finch Field tomorrow, July 9 to host the Gastonia Grizzlies at 7 p.m.
