It was officially announced today that the UFC was sold to a group led by WME-IMG, partnering with its owner Silver Lake Partners, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts and MSD Capital and the investment firm of Michael Dell. The sale was reportedly for $4 billion and signed this past Saturday.
Dana White will stay on as UFC President, however his shares in the company will be reduced. The Fertitta brothers will retain a minority interest in the company, and Lorenzo Fertitta will step down as CEO. When asked by ESPN for comment, White said that the “sport is going to the next level.”
*****Back in the day it was reported that Dana White bought the UFC/Ultimate Fighting Championship company for around 100-200 thousand dollars and to turn around and sell it for 4 billion, not a bad return on his investment….*****
