High Point Post 87 HiToms best Rowan County in shootout, 10-8
Pitchers had a tough day during the game between High Point Post 87 HiToms and Rowan County, as the two teams put up 18 runs combined in a 10-8 High Point Post 87 HiToms win.
The teams totaled 28 hits, including six extra base hits in the game.
High Point Post 87 HiToms held off Rowan County, as Rowan County was unable to overcome a five-run sixth inning deficit.
Rowan County scored on a hit by pitch, a two-run single by Garcia, and an RBI single by Atwood in the sixth inning, an RBI single by Blackwilder in the seventh inning, and an RBI single by Blackwilder in the ninth inning.
Unfortunately, Rowan County wasn’t able to take the lead back.
Dylan Wilkinson went a perfect 2-2 at the plate for High Point Post 87 HiToms. He doubled in the first and third innings.
Charlee Edwards got the win in relief for High Point Post 87 HiToms. Edwards pitched 3 2/3 innings and allowed five runs.
Ketchie took the loss for Rowan County. He lasted just four innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
High Point Post 87 HiToms didn’t relinquish the lead after scoring two runs in the first inning when it scored on a two-run double by Ryan Caveness.
Rowan County tallied one run in each of the first, fourth, seventh, and ninth. In the first, Rowan County scored on a sacrifice fly by Garcia, bringing home Lankford.
High Point Post 87 HiToms scored two runs in each of the third, sixth and eighth. In the third, High Point Post 87 HiToms scored on a two-run double by Caveness, scoring Wilkinson and Evan Edwards.
High Point Post 87 HiToms scored one run in the fourth inning, and then followed it up with one more in the seventh. In the fourth, High Point Post 87 HiToms scored on an RBI single by Nick Goard, scoring Andy Ramirez.
