Gastonia, N.C.– Falling behind early, the High Point-Thomasville HiToms (27-21) never caught up in a 6-3 loss at the Gastonia Grizzlies (18-30) on Saturday night.

With two outs in the bottom of the second inning is when the Grizzlies pounced on the HiToms starting pitcher Andrew Dill (1-2). Jeremy Howell drove in the first run of the ballgame on a single up the middle. Jackson Mims lifted a fly ball to left field that Hunter Slater dropped at the warning track allowing two more runs to score as the Grizzlies led 5-0 after two innings.

The HiToms attempted to crawl back into the game when the Grizzlies starting pitcher Kevin Kopps threw the ball away from home plate to put the HiToms on the board.

Another run came across on a wild pitch by Kopps as the HiToms trailed 6-2 after four innings when Taylor Allum got a run back on a solo homer to right.

Josh Maciejewksi (4-0) went to work out of the bullpen in the top of the fifth and worked out of several jam as the HiToms continued to put runners on but leave them on base.

The HiToms did not go quietly bringing across one more run in the to of the ninth but it was too little too late as Gastonia held on to rain on the HiToms parade 6-3.
