College Cross Country Results – Guilford Men Fifth, Women Seventh at Chic-Fil-A Invitational

SALISBURY, N.C. – Guilford College’s Sommer Fanney (Burlington, N.C./Williams) placed just outside the top-10 of a predominantly NCAA Division II Field at Saturday Morning’s Chic-Fil-A Invitational at Salisbury Community Park. The men placed in a tie for fifth overall out of ten teams with a score of 155 points while the women placed seventh out of 11 teams with 187 points.

Fanney placed 11th to earn 11 points with a time of 21:12.46, nearly ten seconds off of her top five-kilometer time last season. Fanney was within four seconds of cracking the top-ten and seven seconds away from a ninth-place finish.

Kate Jenkins-Sullivan ran the second-fastest time for the Quakers, placing 29th with a time of 23:14.45.

Caleb Amstutz broke the 30-minute barrier with a time of 29:56.41 in the eight-kilometer race for the men, nearly six seconds away from earning one less point in a 23rd-place finish. Amstutz earned 19 points with the finish.

Freshman Colin Dossel (Winston-Salem, N.C./Mount Tabor) placed 36th, earning 29 points, with a time 31:55.51 for Guilford’s second-fastest time.

Coach Danny Cash’s Quakers return to the course Friday, running in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Preview meet at Vista Links Golf Club in Lexington, Va.
