LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Greensboro College men’s golf team holds a two stroke lead heading into the final round of the Transylvania Fall Invitational.

The Pride fired an even-par 288 in the first round before finishing day one at 6-over par, following a 294 round 2.

Grant Powell, a freshman from Greensboro, N.C., is tied for the individual lead after completing the first 36 holes at 2-under par. Powell opened the day with an even-par 72 before completing round 2 with a 2-under par 70.

Luke Grogan, who was leading with his brother Levi Grogan after the first round, currently sits in 6th place at 2-over par, despite firing a 1-under par round 1. Levi is just one stroke back in a seventh place tie at 3-over par.

Ryan Fitzgerald is also tied for seventh (+2), while Sean O’Connor is in a 19th place tie.

“I was very pleased with our play today,” Head Coach Dirk Fennie said. “Our freshman showed a lot of maturity after bouncing back from a couple tough hole and a slow start.

“If we can avoid big mistakes tomorrow, we should do really well.”

The Pride men will return to the par-72 University of Kentucky Big Blue Course for the final round Sunday. For more information on Greensboro College men’s golf, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
