College Cross Country Results – Guilford Competes at ODAC Preview

BUENA VISTA, Va. – Guilford College’s Sommer Fanney (Burlington, N.C./Williams) led both men’s and women’s cross country squads with a 36th-place finish as the Quakers competed in Friday’s Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Preview meet at the Buena Vista Links Golf Course, hosted by Washington and Lee University. The women placed 10th with 273 points while the men did not record a team score. The women’s race was reduced to a four-kilometer race due to the excessive heat in the area.

Fanney sneaked into 36th place by one-half second with a time of 17:58.1. Fanney ran an average mile time of 7:13 and averaged 4:29.5 per kilometer.

Kate Jenkins-Sullivan came across the finish line second for the Quakers, placing 59th with a time of 18:58.8. Jenkins-Sullivan ran an average mile time of 7:37.3 while running an average kilometer in 4:44.7.

Caleb Amstutz led Guilford’s men with a 59th place finish with a time of 32:55.8 in the eight-kilometer race. Amstutz’s average kilometer time was 4:07 while he ran an average mile in 6:37.5.

Quint Simones was the second member of the men’s squad to come across the finish line with a 67th-place finish with a time of 33:32. Simones ran his average mile in 6:44.8 while his average kilometer time stood at 4:11.5.

Coach Danny Cash’s Quakers return to the course next Friday, running the Adidas Cross Country Classic at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.
