College Men’s Soccer Final – N.C. Wesleyan 7, Guilford 0

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – North Carolina Wesleyan College’s Baboucarr Njie tallied three goals as Guilford College dropped a Wednesday afternoon contest to N.C. Wesleyan, 7-0.

The Battling Bishops carried a 2-0 lead into halftime after the Quakers held N.C. Wesleyan to four shots in the first 20 minutes of the first half. Njie scored the first goal in the 23rd minute on a one-timer thanks to a feed from Kobi Boompong.

Njie scored in the first minute of the second half for his second goal for the first of two assists from Drew Wiltse, with his second assist coming on the Caetano Viegas goal in the 60th minute. Julius Oskarsson scored his fourth point on a 66th-minute goal after feeding the ball for the previous two goals as Oskarsson received a chip pass from Boompong for the contest’s final goal.

N.C. Wesleyan out-shot the Quakers, 27-10, with the Quakers producing eight shots in the second half. The Battling Bishops held the edge on corner kicks, 11-5, with eight first-half corner kicks.

Eric Hayes made five saves in net for the Quakers. N.C. Wesleyan’s Alex Magner made one save, playing 76 minutes, while Richard Kandarczyk made one stop in relief during the final 16 minutes of the match.

The Quakers (4-2) look to rebound Saturday, traveling to Catholic University of America Saturday for a noon kickoff.
