Elon Men’s Golf Opens Play at FAMC Intercollegiate

COLLEGE GROVE, Tenn. – The Elon University men’s golf team kicked off play at the Franklin American Mortgage Intercollegiate at The Grove on Sunday, Sept. 18, and sits in 14th place after one round of play at 18-over par (306).

Cincinnati holds a two-shot lead at even par (288), with host Middle Tennessee State in second place at 2-over par (290). Fellow Colonial Athletic Association member College of Charleston sits tied for third at 4-over par (292).

HIGHLIGHTS
William Ronnholm, competing in his first event as a Phoenix, carded Elon’s low round of the day, a 2-over par 74 that has him tied for 31st.

In a tie for 52nd is William Harwood, who shot a 4-over par round of 76 in the opening round.

Charlie May is tied for 64th after a first-round 77 and Jared Mactas is tied for 73rd after posting a score of 79 over the first 18 holes of play.

Logan Membrino, another Phoenix playing in his first event, is alone in 77th place after shooting a 9-over par 81.

UP NEXT
The Phoenix returns to action for the final two rounds at the FAMC Intercollegiate at The Grove beginning tomorrow, Sept. 19. The final round will be played on Tuesday, Sept. 20.
