Hyde served as a the Miami Marlins interim manager, June 19, 2011 against Tampa Bay, following the resignation of manager Edwin RodriguezJack McKeon was named manager the following day. Began the 2010 season as minor league infield coordinator in the Marlins system, his first year in that role. John Mallee #11(Chicago Cubs) is the former roving hitting instructor for the Miami/Florida Marlins and he spent several years coming to Greensboro and teaching former Greensboro Grasshoppers how to improve their game and their hitting approach at the plate….A great team player and good man to have come through our town and to help the young players like Stanton, Ozuna, Yelich, Coghlan, Morrison, Sanchez, McCann and many others get their hitting games going and to get their bats all together….
In 2002, Mallee joined the Marlins organization where he spent the next eight-plus seasons as the organization’s minor league hitting coordinator before being named interim major league hitting coach in June, 2010 … continued as hitting coach for the 2011 season.
