Jamestown, NC – –

This evening the SE Guilford Falcons made the trip to Jamestown to take on the Ragsdale Tigers in the much anticipated season opener for both teams. The long off-season is now over, as these two programs were ready to face off and get their seasons started off on the right path. In front of a frenzied home-standing crowd, the Tigers and Falcons battled in a hotly contested high school basketball game.

The opening period would see both teams trade baskets back and forth, with the home-standing Tigers going on a 6-0 run late in the quarter to gain a 13-7 lead at the end of one period. In the second quarter, Ragsdale continued their defensive pressure and built their lead to as much as 16 points. By halftime, the Tigers would lead by 14 points. The Falcons came out of the gates strong in the second half, cutting their deficit to just seven points near the end of the quarter. Two late baskets in the period by the Tigers’ Jarious Drayton helped push their lead back up to nine points, with the score standing at 41-32. The 4th and final period was basically a dead heat. Brycen Thomas scored 7 of his 15 points in the final frame to push the Tigers and keep them out front the remainder of the game. Judah Watkins and Isaiah Tate kept applying pressure for the Falcons, but the deficit was just too large as Ragsdale would go on to win on opening night by the final score of 58-47.

Ragsdale was led by Senior Jarious Drayton and Sophomore Brycen Thomas, both scoring 15 points on the night. Isaiah Tate led the Falcons with 15 points while Judah Watkins also scored 10 points.

  1. Andy where is the Watkins kid thought he was a jr for rags last year man he could full it up by far there best player?????

  2. Watkins Brothers at High Point Christian and Brian Free is over at the Piedmont Classical School…

  3. Anyone know what happened to Greyson Collins from RHS? He was also another one who put up lots of points for Ragsdale in the past. Funny how some of the best players left Ragsdale to play for other Schools. Wonder why?

  4. Collins is at Caldwell. Once again mass exodus of upperclassmen leaving this program…In the past 5-7 years there has been 25-30 very good players transfer? Ragsdale whole program is stagnant, except for wrestling and X country!
