Friday Night Finish:Had to be tough at Watauga where SWG fell 50-49, but a new ray and a new day at Dudley on Patterson’s 24-yard FG/All of our teams are home next week for Round Two

*****Congrats to the High Point Christian Cougars on winning the NCISAA 2-A Football State Championship on Friday, with the Cougars 16-6 victory over Christ School(Arden, North Carolina)*****

How many teams did we lose tonight???

Was it five or six, with SWG, NWG, SEG, NEG and NG and I think that was it at Five teams gone after Round One of the NCHSAA Football Playoffs…

Page still in, Dudley still in and the Panthers’ Kenji Patterson kicked a 24-yard field goal and I ever remember seeing Dudley Panther kick a field goal…The extra point kicks have never come easy, but now they are starting to come through off the foot of Patterson with steady regularity…That Kenji, he is quite the kicker and congrats on that field goal and he went 7-7 on his PAT kicks…

I will come back and give you a full rundown on the scoring from the Dudley game later, since we had a computerized scoring system cooking up there tonight….Courtesy of Jonathan Watt and the Alexander Central crew…

The Page Pirates game summary will be coming up in just a few with Wyatt Smith…I heard that Javon Leake re-tweaked his ankle, but it should be OK for next week…

How about this for a GREAT game:Asehboro(9-3) at Eastern Guilford(12-0) next Friday night….Kris Walser and Coach Daryl Steele will be there for GreensboroSports Radio and they will be right in the middle of all of the action, with Barr, Graves, Artis, Z. Walker, Finerty, Cheeley, Clapp, E.Walker and more ready to shut the door on the A’boro Blue Comets….

Biggest Shout Out of the night has to go out to the Southwest Guilford Cowboys, coming off the extremely tough loss, 50-49 at Watauga….How do you begin to explain that one??? It was almost the same kind of game last year with SWG at Watauga and I think last year’s game went into overtime where the Cowboys won and then came back to Greensboro, to face the Dudley Panthers in Round Two of the 2015 NCHSAA football playoffs…

Next up in 2016, it will be Watauga at Dudley, the day after Thanksgiving, as Round Two gets ready to be well done, or done well, if your team is up and ready for the occasion….

So we have Five teams and goes something like this for next week with:(All of our teams are home next for the Third Round of the playoffs and that is rare to have all of our teams home heading into Round Two….
Asheboro(9-3) at Eastern Guilford(12-0)
The NCHSAA site has EG losing to Corinth Holders and for next week they have:
8 Corinth Holders vs.
5 Asheboro

But the notes from out site and the News and Record site have EG winning over CH, 55-20 and MaxPreps even has EG now at (11-1)….Here is the Box Score that MaxPreps has:

11/18 @ 7:30p Q1	Q2	Q3	Q4	Final
Corinth Holders -	-	-	-	20
Eastern Guilford	-	-	-	-	10

That just goes to show you how crazy it can get some nights…Wrong on the the above and we love EG and see them winning again next week….
On to more of next week:
Watauga(9-3) at Dudley(11-1)…Watauga 50-49 over SWG and Dudley, 52-8 over Alexander Central…
West Mecklenburg(9-3) at Page(11-1)
….Page topped Olympic 39-14 and West Mecklenburg stopped Mooresville, 37-17….West Meck has that solid QB in Richard Latimer…Next week Mallard Creek at Butler….Butler defeated McDowell, 63-0 and Mallard Creek just barely got past Hough, 21-16….
South Johnston(6-6) at Southern Guilford(10-2)….On Friday, SG best West Carteret, 37-0 and South Johnston ripped Eastern Wayne, 52-7….
Hereford County(8-4) at High Point Andrews(8-4)…Friday it was HP Andrews 27, North Brunswick 7 and Hereford County 46, Franklinton 18…

Let’s add in that Dudley-Alexander Central scoring rundown, since we had that good computer originated version of the Box Score tonight….

7:57 1st Q:Hendon Hooker 17 yard run(Kenji Patterson Kick) 14-0 Dudley

*****Dudley did not have to punt the entire night….*****
+++++Ezra Perkins with 101 yards rushing and 1 TD for Dudley…Hendon Hooker goes 5-9 for 109 yards passing and 2 TD’s…Just looking over these stats from the main stats outlet, Hendon Hooker did run the ball once, all night long….+++++…Thomas Young for Dudley with 1 TD rushing and 1 TD receiving and he had a total of 114 yards, with 62 rushing and 52 receiving….Total Offense Dudley had 354 yards with 245 coming from the ground and 109 through the air…..Dudley was also 3-3 on Red Zone scoring chances……

  1. Not sure how they got that messed up with the E.G. Score. 55-8 in the fourth quarter and the backups and JV’s giving up two late scores. Nonetheless, on to week two and the blue comets.

  2. I remember when Kenji Patterson first started kicking for Dudley and a few curious fans wondering who the kid was. His Dad cool as ever says proudly “that’s my son”. Now everybody is saying ” #83 Patterson that’s my hero “.

  3. Somebody was saying on another post that there may have been a field goal from a Dudley kicker in the playoffs back around 2003….The game mentioned was Dudley vs. High Point Central at Simeon Stadium in High Point….

I remember sometime around 2003 is when Dudley fell to Gastonia Ashebrook in the 3-AA Title game in Raleigh on a FG that beat that Panthers that night and the kid from Ashebrook that kicked the game-winner to beat the Panthers was Julian Rausch, who later on kicked for Appalachian State…

  4. Yes, Kenji Patterson has really matured as the kicker for Dudley. He now goes out there confidence and Dudley will need that down the road. Go Kenji!!!

Myles White really showed his athletic skill in this game. When Myles is HOT, his HOT!!
