Game Report on Southwest Guilford-Northeast Guilford Boys Basketball:Keyshaun Langley with 18, Brandon Lamberth with 17 and Kam Langley with 11 points pace the C’Boys to victory

Final:Southwest Guilford 88, Northeast Guilford 50
Tonight was the home opener for the Cowboys of Southwest Guilford. The Cowboys were coming into tonight’s contest following their first regular season loss in November since 2009, and were looking to get back to playing quality Southwest basketball. In their last outing on Saturday night the Cowboys were uncommonly out of sync.

Tonight pitted the hosts against the visiting Rams of Northeast Guilford. The game opened up as a back and forth contest as the teams traded basket after basket for just over four minutes. At the 4:40 mark the Rams took a 10-9 lead, which turned out to be the last time they would. The final 3:51 of the frame was dominated by the Cowboys using a 17-3 blitz, which started with a 14-0 run, to close out the opening stanza at 26-13.

The second quarter had more Southwest momentum, including the apex in which a dunk by Ty Radford gave the Cowboys their largest lead up to that point at 38-19 at the 5:20 mark. Southwest managed to increase on the margin slightly just before the half with a deep three pointer taking the tally to 49-27.

Although the pace slowed slightly, the control of the game was still very much in favor of the hosts as the third frame closed with the Cowboys holding a 67-37 lead.

The final frame was a bit sloppy of sorts but was highlighted by a ferocious dunk by Jalen Snipes as the Cowboys cruised to the convincing home opening victory over the visiting Rams by the score of 88-50.

The Rams were paced by Brevan Allen with his 13 points. The Cowboys were led by: Keyshaun Langley (18 points, 7 Asts, 5 Rebs, and 3 Stls), Brandon Lamberth (17 points, 5 Rebs, 2 Stls, 2 Blks), and Kameron Langley (11 points, 5 Rebs, 5 Asts, 4 Stls).

It was a great team win for Southwest bringing them to 2-1 on the season for nice bounce back win. Next up for the Cowboys will be the Whirlies of Grimsley here on Friday night.
