“One of the main goals of our program is to represent the city of High Point and make it proud,” head coach Tom Mendoza said. “Being able to receive this recognition and allowing our team to see their achievements be recognized by the community is a great honor.”

The Panthers finished the season with a 23-10 mark and won the 2016 Big South Championship title on Nov. 20 against Radford in Lynchburg, Va. The tournament title gave the Purple & White a berth in the NCAA Tournament where they fell to No. 7 North Carolina on Friday, Dec. 2.

The NCAA Tournament berth was the second for the program since it switched to Division I beginning in 1999-2000. All-Big South First Team selections junior Haley Barnes and sophomore Molly Livingston paced the High Point offense throughout the season while sophomore Jordan Hefner set a school record with 143 blocks on the year.

The Panthers will graduate three seniors in May in Savannah Angel, Greta Griswold and Megan Kennedy.
