BISHOP MCGUINNESS NAMES RAY ALLEY HEAD WOMEN’S SOCCER COACH
Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School has announced the appointment of Ray Alley as its head women’s soccer coach. Alley will be in his fifth season at Bishop McGuinness, having served as assistant girls’ soccer coach for the late George Kennedy over the past four seasons.
Alley has over 40 years of experience coaching at the club, high school and collegiate levels both as a head coach and an assistant coach. He coached men’s tennis and soccer at High Point University and Guilford College and has been inducted into the N.C. Soccer Hall of Fame (Class of 2002) and the Guilford College Athletics Hall of Fame. He also assisted Kennedy at Western Guilford High School with the boys’ and girls’ programs and served as boys head coach at Southwest Guilford High School.
Alley’s Greensboro Youth Soccer Association girls club soccer teams earned six NCYSA State Cup championships and represented North Carolina in six USYSA Region III championships. He is the editor/publisher of Southern Soccer Scene (website: www.southernsoccerscene.com), which he founded 38 years ago while coaching soccer at Guilford College.
