Greensboro, NC – –

This evening the Ragsdale Tigers made the trip to Southeast Guilford for the rematch from the match-up in the season opener back in November. In the previous game this season, the Tigers raced to a double digit lead in the first half and would never look back, going on to win by 11 points. Ragsdale was coming into tonight’s game with a win over Western Guilford, ending a previous four-game losing streak. The Falcons come into the game having lost their previous two games. Who would have the upper hand tonight in front of a frenzied home-standing crowd?!

The opening period would see both teams trade baskets to start the game. Halfway through the quarter with the score tied at 6, the Flacons would go on an 9-0 run before the Tigers’ Nick Coleman answered by finishing the quarter with two straight 3-pointers. The Falcons still carried a 15-12 advantage going into the 2nd quarter. In the 2nd quarter, the Tigers would begin to settle down offensively and attack the Falcons pressure more effectively. Jarious Drayton would score 7 of the Tigers 2nd quarter points, as Ragsdale took a 30-27 lead into the halftime break. The 3rd quarter was sloppy, with both teams committing several turnovers and the fouls beginning to mount both ways. In the final period, Ragsdale would go up as much as 10 points with 4 minutes remaining before the Falcons began mounting a final comeback. Slowly chipping away at the Tigers’ lead, the Falcons were down 2 points with 8 seconds left with possession. Dribble penetration and a kick out to the left wing led to a Ragsdale defender fouling a Falcon shooter with 0.3 seconds remaining. With 2 free throws for the chance to tie, Southeast missed both free throws and the game ended with a Ragsdale victory on the road by the final score of 55-53.

Ragsdale was led by Nick Coleman and Brycen Thomas, both with 12 points. SE Guilford was led by Isaiah Tate with a game-high 15 points.
