GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College women’s basketball team sailed to a victory of the Mustangs of Mid-Atlantic Christian University Friday, 90-57.
The Mustangs (5-5) took an early 10-4 lead before Greensboro (3-5) busted the game open with a 34-4 run over the next nine minutes. Katie Lewis and Rashieka Gregory each had 10 points during the run, while Kylee Barry and Monica Small combined for 14 point.
The Pride then held the advantage to take a 50-28 halftime lead.
After Greensboro extended its lead to 59-32, the Pride used a 16-4 run to take its largest lead of the contest at 75-36. Barry paced the spurt with five points, while Kamerin Williams and Heather Burton chipped in four points each.
The Mustangs pulled within 82-52 with just over three minutes remaining, but did not get any closer.
“I think our ball movement was key to my teams’ success tonight,” Kylee Barry said. “We continue coming together as a team, and it is a lot of fun to play with all of my teammates.”
Gregory finished with a team-high 19 points, while Lewis and Barry each had 17 points. Smalls finished with a double double with 13 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
“We opened the game playing as individuals and not as a team but we were able to recover from that,” Head Coach Randy Tuggle said. “We will continue to take it one game at a time and continue to get better.”
The Pride women’s basketball team will return to action Dec. 31 when they welcome the Cavaliers of Montreat College to Hanes Gym at 2 p.m. For more information on Greensboro College women’s basketball, continue to follow www.greensborocollegesports.com.
