Tamera Thorpe(Greensboro Day School) named Atlantic Sun Conference/College Sports Madness ASUN Player of the Week(Hits career-high 27 pts.)

LakePoint, Ga. – USC Upstate sophomore guard Tamera Thorpe(Greensboro Day School) has been named the ASUN Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, conference officials announced this afternoon. Thorpe earns the weekly honor for the first time in her career and was also named the College Sports Madness ASUN Player of the Week.

In Upstate’s 76-63 home victory over Maryland Eastern Shore on Friday, Thorpe came off of the bench and scored a career-high 27 points and was a career-best 10-for-15 from the field in 27 minutes played. She finished 6-for-8 from the free throw line and grabbed seven rebounds, one shy of tying a career-high.

Thorpe, who is the first Upstate player to win a weekly award this season, is currently third on the team with an average of 7.8 points per game. Friday’s game was the 14th time in her career that she finished in double figures and first time she finished over the 20-point mark.
