Game Report on Northwest Guilford-Ragsdale Boys Basketball:Tigers take Vikings into OT, but NWG able to finish strong and grab first Conference Win(Seniors Spicer and Hennigan pace Vikes Victory)

NORTHWEST GUILFORD 59, RAGSDALE 56

GAME NOTES:
–After the snow finally cleared in Guilford County, Northwest Guilford and Ragsdale fought until overtime in a matchup versus conference foes. The Tigers controlled the game for the most part, as they led by 6 points at the half and 3 points at the end of the 3rd quarter. Ragsdale executed on both ends of the floor and outplayed Northwest for the majority of the game. Poor defensive rotation and quick shots plagued the Vikings for most of the night. Despite the uneven effort, Northwest was ultimately able to pull out the win with key free throws and a crucial defensive stop down the stretch to win 59-56 in overtime.
–Northwest got 19 points and 7 assists from Jalen Spicer to lead the way. Thomas Hennigan stuffed the stat sheet with 12 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 5 steals. Reggie Davis added 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists while David Funderberg finished with 8 points and 7 rebounds. Christian Hampton came off the bench to contribute 6 points and 3 rebounds to go along with great defensive pressure to spark the Vikings.
–Ragsdale was led by Raekwon Blocker and Tre Goode with 18 and 15 points respectively.

  1. Very UGLY game this time around. The Vikings have not played well in weeks. You beat this by 40 points a few weeks earlier. Don’t understand with ALL this talent they have!

  2. Tre is day-to-day, from what Coach Reavis had to say, late last night…

First half at HAECO without Spicer and Davis was a tight game…If you are missing some of your men/hoops troops, it can change your focus…

Coach Partee at Smith told his team last night that they had to get their focus back and they did just in time, in the 4th Quarter and that allowed Smith to knock off a feisty Southeast Guilford Falcon team….
