Elon Women’s Tennis Falls at William & Mary

WILLIAMSBURG, VA. – The Elon University women’s tennis team fell to the William & Mary Tribe 7-0 on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 22, at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center.

FINAL RESULTS

Kirsten Ward and Suzanne Zenoni led the way for the Phoenix (3-1) in doubles action with a 7-6 (8-6) win on court three after William & Mary (2-0) had clinched the doubles point.

HIGHLIGHTS
William & Mary took the doubles point and the early 1-0 lead in the match. After the Tribe’s top doubles team won the first match 6-3 on court one, Rosie Cheng and Olivia Thaler clinched the point at the No. 2 position with a 7-5 victory.

Ward and Zenoni highlighted doubles action for the Phoenix with a 7-6 (8-6) win on court three.

Olivia Lucas battled in singles action, forcing a third-set tiebreaker at No. 4 singles. Lucas won the first set 6-4 and dropped the second 6-2 against Rosie Cheng. The junior would fall in a tightly contested tiebreak, 10-8.
