Elon’s Tyler Seibring Named CAA MBB Co-Player of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – Sophomore forward Tyler Seibring of the Elon University men’s basketball team has been named CAA Co-Player of the Week for his performance in the team’s two victories last week against Drexel and William & Mary.

The Normal, Ill. native scored a career-high 25 points with seven rebounds and six assists in a 93-73 victory over Dragons on Thursday. He followed that performance with 19 points, six boards and a career-high tying three blocks in a 71-62 triumph over the Tribe on Saturday.

Over the span of two games, Seibring averaged 22.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.5 blocks during Elon’s 2-0 week. The sophomore also shot 51.9% from the floor, including a 7-for-11 mark behind the arc.

Seibring earns his first-career CAA Player of the Week honor and is the third Elon player to receive the award this season. Brian Dawkins earned the honor on Dec. 5, after two solid performances against FIU and Georgetown. On Nov. 28, Luke Eddy earned the accolade following his performance during the NIU Thanksgiving Classic.

Seibring, who earned CAA Rookie of the Week honors three times last season, receives his fourth-career CAA weekly award. This is also the 20th time an Elon player has earned a conference player of the week award since the Phoenix joined the Division I ranks in 1999.

The Phoenix treks north for a CAA road swing starting Thursday night, Jan. 26, at Northeastern for a 7 p.m. tip. Elon will wrap up the week at Hofstra on Saturday, Jan. 28, for a 4 p.m. contest.
