The Lady Falcons came away with a solid 47-18 victory over the Lady Whirlies in a Metro-4A matchup. With the win the Falcons improve to 15-9 overall and 7-2 in conference play. The loss brings Grimsley to 0-20 on the season and 0-8 in conference.

Quick Start Jump-starts the Whirlies in a 74-58 win over conference foe Southeast Guilford

Both the Falcons and the Whirlies were looking to pick up big conference wins going into the conference tournament and trying to keep their playoff hopes alive. Grimsley came out white hot making four three pointers in the first frame. Two of which came from sophomore point guard Devin Resper who would go on to score twelve total points in the first frame alone.

The Whirlies would end up leading after the first quarter 28-10 thanks to hot shooting and their strong defensive effort. The Falcons couldn’t seem to get much going and were forced into tough spots resulting in turnovers.

The hot shooting cooled off in the second but the Falcons couldn’t seem to mount a comeback as the defense from Grimsley was too hard to hand. Going into the half the Whirlies led 41-18.

Another bright spot for Grimsley was the play of junior guard Nate Urquhart. He was hitting from deep, driving to the hole and got to the charity stripe on a number of occasions ending the game with 15 points.

After an even third frame the Falcons tried to mount a comeback thanks to the play from senior guard Desmond Freeman who scored 11 of his 18 points in the fourth, but the Whirlies stood strong and held on for the victory.

With the win Grimsley moves to 6-16 overall and 3-6 in conference play. The Falcons drop to 9-14 and 3-6 in the Metro.
